Lillesden Grade 11 Refurbishment and Enabling Works

The first phase of this exciting commission to convert a stunning Grade 11 Listed school in Kent into new residential apartments has been completed 2017. The original building was been badly damaged by previous neglect and much of the historic fabric has been lost. Working with Sandhill Homes Ltd we are piecing together an exceptional restoration. The interior has been remodelled keeping the historical spaces intact whilst creating spectacular new living spaces. Each apartment has its own unique atmosphere and quality. The restoration works will be offset by a second phase of new enabling development in the grounds of this Listed parkland setting. 18 innovative new family homes will be built set amongst mature trees and lawns.

Grange Street Lofts, St Albans Conservation

St Albans, Hertfordshire

This RIBA Award winning scheme makes best use of an old light industrial printing shed. A Locally Listed building set within the St Albans Conservation Area allowed us to explore dynamic lofted interiors using natural daylight and bold architectural shapes. The result was seven entirely different spaces enjoying private city living.

Contemporary Terrace, Hoddeston

Behind these relatively modest traditional elevations some bold features mark these houses out. Upon arrival at the front door you have sight over a semi basement double height reception room. This basement kitchen/living space has direct access over a private sunken rear patio. Upstairs there’s a full width formal lounge with views over private gardens. Bedrooms are planned with proper dressing areas and lofted ceilings. These properties sold well in these most difficult of economic times.

Castle Street Luton

We are very excited to post planning approval granted October 2014.  This challenging Luton site is constrained by busy roads and a Grade 11 Listed church building. We wanted to create high quality high density flats using a duplex arrangement. These properties have dual aspect so that each apartment benefits from quieter living spaces facing away from the road. The duplex plan allows us to reduce the number of corridors inside the building providing more space for useful accommodation. The building steps and curves, literally ‘moving away’ from the Grade 11 listed church as if it were following the movement of the traffic. We like the way that corridors are expressed on the building facade and how the pattern of windows adds to the sense of movement.
